it's unreal. I just don't understand how one band is able to harness so much awesomeness without exploding.

hopefully they won't suffer the same fate as at the drive-in and just all of a sudden call it quits.
i remember watching an interview with cedric and omar when they were in ATDI and cedric was saying how the understanding of the band is so tight they can call it quits at any time especially during the interview which is something you never see in any other band.
but the volta's pumped out 3 amazing albums, a live album and an ep as well, so we've got plenty of material if they do explode.

I actually like bands that break up at the peak of their success.
Why? Because they leave their fans with a legacy and never went downhill.
But anyone have a problem with Amputecture flowing? Maybe it's the version I downloaded, but it doesn't flow from one song to the next like their previous albums.

The Mars Volta is the most impressive band I've ever seen live...hands down. As incredible as their CDs are, seeing them in person gave me a whole new kind of appreciation.
I'm holding off on downloading the new material so I can be blown away on the day it officially comes out...nothing better than putting in a new CD that kicks ass from start to finish. But I have heard Viscera Eyes, and if that's any indication, I'm sure the album will be phenomenal...

Yeah man for sure. The Mars Volta was the best live show I've ever seen by any band in my life.jprumm311 wrote:The Mars Volta is the most impressive band I've ever seen live...hands down. As incredible as their CDs are, seeing them in person gave me a whole new kind of appreciation.
They are the only band that I can honestly say beats 311 live.
And that's a high standard to top.

that's exactly how i feel, good in the studio...even better live. and amputechture is so fucking awesome like jordan stated before, the only thing i wished omar did was turn up the drums a little bit because jon theodore is totally playing his heart out on this album.jprumm311 wrote:The Mars Volta is the most impressive band I've ever seen live...hands down. n July 28th 2006, the publicist for the band has said the following in a press release: "The Mars Volta cast that performed Amputechture will be modified for live dates that begin imminently, with drummer Jon Theodore replaced by Blake Fleming, formerly of Laddio Bolocko and Dazzling Killmen and actually the drummer who played on the very first Mars Volta demos. Pablo Hinojos-Gonzalez will expand his role, contributing both guitar and sound manipulation skills. Finally, while not a member of the touring Mars Volta band per se, Amputechture contributor John Frusciante, on the other hand, will be in close proximity, as his Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Mars Volta are scheduled to tour together through November 2006."
